Nachtschlachtgruppe 7 4X

Formation

18 Oct 1943 Nachtschlachtgruppe 7 (NSGr 7) on formation was made up as follows:

- Stab NSG 7 was formed from elements of Stab SG 1.

- 1. / NSG 7 created from Störkampfstaffel Südost, operating with Hs 126 and He 46.

- 2. / NSG 7 formed from Nahaufklärungstaffel Kroatien, operating with Hs 126 and Do 17.

- 3. / NSG 7 established on 7. 3. 1944 with Italian Fiat Cr 42 biplanes.

Deployment

From the beginning the group operated under the Lw.Stab Kroatien, Fliegerführer Kroatien and from the summer of 1944 under II.Flg.K. in the Balkan area.

Besides the nightly harassment flights operated up to the end of the war, the unit also conducted regular daytime recconnaisance and anti-partisan operations.

08 Jan 1944 - Serviceability 1./NSGr 7 - 19 He 46 (15 serviceable on the airfield). Crews total 18 with 14 available. [2]

May 1944- Strength returns showed 29 Cr.42, Ca 314, Ju 87 and He 46 aircraft available of which 25 were operational.

Jul 1944 - Six Ju 87Ds from NSGr 9 together with Eleven Fw 190s from SG 4 transfered from Italy to conduct operations from Tirana under the control of NSGr 7.

January 1945 - NSGr 7 operated under the control of Luflotte 4 which had withdrawn from the Southern sector of the Eastern Front. Strength returns at this time recorded 54 Hs 126 and CR 42 aircraft available with 37 aircraft servicable.

The operational bases, used by elements of each staffeln, included Agram, S.-Butmir, Vel Gorica, Mostar, Agram-Pleso, Lucko, Banja Luka and Varazdin.

Mar 1945 - based at Agram with some Ju 87s on strength.

13 Mar 1945- the Gruppe was disbanded.
