History

Apr 1940 - For the invasion of Norway KGrzbV 105 consisted of the following aircraft[1]:-

33 Ju 52/3ms - 3 were standard g3es while the remainder were of an extended range version

5 Ju 90B - seconded from Lufthansa.

(Hooten states on page 220 of Phoenix Triumphant that KGrzbV 105 was provided with 20 requisitions four engined airliners, most were Ju 90s; some Fw 200s and a single G38)

9 Apr 1940 - Invasion of Norway. Based at Keil/Holtenau. Operated under the control of Stab./KGzbV 2. Once Trondheim had been confirmed as being in German hands a Fw 200 of KGrzbv 105 undertook a recce flight to determine if conditions were suitable enough to allow the delivery of the ground elements of KüFlGr. 506 to support the He 115s of this unit that had flown in earlier.[2]

9 Apr 1940 (afternoon) - KGrzbV 105 took part in landings ar Oslo/Fornebu together with KGrzbV 101, KGrzbV 102, KGrzbV 107 and II./ KGzbv 1. Altogetehr a total of 159 Ju 52/3ms flew in part of IR 324, the remainder of 1 and 2./FJR 1, some Luftwaffe ground staff and some fuel supplies.[3]

12 Apr 1940 - Continued to provide reinforcement flights to Oslo/Fornebu. On this day a Ju 90B returning from Fornebu hit an obstruction and crashed.[4]

15 Apr 1940 - A Ju 9 B of this unit operated a supply drop, of clothing and ammunition, to the German garrison at Narvik.[5]

25 Apr 1940 - At 04.45 hrs a Ju 90B was chased by Skuas of 800 Sqdn FAA operating from H.M.S. Ark Royal.[6]

8 May 1940 - By this date KGrzbV 105 had left Norway and transferred to be under the control of Luftflotte 2 for the assault on Holland.[7]


End Feb 1942 - ?? Operations in the relief of Demyansk.
